Our story
About S.A.F.E., Inc.
Sisters Anointed For Encouragement — a faith-centered sisterhood walking alongside women through every season of growth.
Why we exist
Our Mission
S.A.F.E., Inc. was founded on a simple but powerful belief: every woman deserves a safe, faith-centered space where she can be seen, heard, and supported without judgment. Guided by God, we are an active nonprofit committed to creating that space — one session and one sister at a time. S.A.F.E. supports underserved women through faith-based encouragement, community involvement, and female-focused developmental programs that promote resilience, self-healing, and long-term personal growth.
Through The Butterfly Effect program, we walk alongside women who are ready to grow in faith, in confidence, and in purpose. Transformation is not a destination. It's a journey, and no woman should have to walk it alone.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
— 1 Thessalonians 5:11
What S.A.F.E. means
Sisters Anointed For Encouragement
Sisters
We are bound together — not by blood, but by purpose, faith, and a shared commitment to lift one another higher.
Anointed
Each woman who walks through our doors carries a divine calling. We help her recognize it, embrace it, and walk in it.
For
Everything we do is for the women in our community — supporting their healing, encouraging their growth, celebrating their breakthroughs, and helping them move forward with God's guidance.
Encouragement
Encouragement is our language. We speak life over every woman — every session, every stage of the journey.
What guides us
Our Core Values
Safety
Every woman who enters our space deserves to feel completely safe — emotionally, spiritually, and personally. We protect that with intention.
Faith
Our foundation is rooted in faith. We believe God's purpose for each woman is real, and we create space for that purpose to unfold.
Community
Transformation happens in community. We are stronger together, and we build bonds that reach far beyond the session room.
Growth
We are committed to growth — not just personal development, but spiritual maturity, emotional healing, and lasting change.
Authenticity
We honor the whole woman. No performance here — only real conversations, real vulnerability, and real breakthroughs.
Encouragement
We speak life. Every session, every interaction, every word is intentional — designed to lift women higher and remind them of who they are.
Leadership
Founded with Purpose
It started in 2006, conversations about life and faith among Badia Atcherson, Jacqueline Jones, April Joyner, and their cousin Danielle that blossomed into home Bible studies. By February 2009, women were gathering for heartfelt conversations on faith, personal growth, and life's journeys. They left feeling refreshed, renewed, and seen. From the beginning, our vision has been to be a light and a human source for women navigating different seasons of life. Whether facing divorce, depression, addiction, struggles with identity, or sexual brokenness. We walk alongside women who are seeking to heal, discover who they are, and grow. S.A.F.E., Inc. was born out of a personal calling a recognition that women in our communities needed more than programs. They needed presence. A place where they could exhale, be honest, and be met with grace.
What began as a vision has grown into a movement. Women from across the region have found their footing, their faith, and their voice through The Butterfly Effect. And we are just getting started.
